The rest of the Greek Islands

So the following morning we headed on a short ferry over to Santorini where we would be spending the next couple of days.  We arrived to a very misty Fira port and got the public bus up to the town.  We spent a couple of hours walking around the town and admiring the views as the mist started to lift. Then we headed to our AirBnB and had a swim in the pool before deciding what to do for the next few days. We headed into town for dinner and organised a quad bike for the following day as I had convinced Rich we weren't going to walk between the two towns, which is possible but takes over 4 hours.

The following morning we picked up the quad bike and headed to Perissa, which is a black sand beach and where we would be staying this evening. After a couple of hours on the beach we headed to Oia where we walked around the town, had some food and enjoyed the stunning views. We were going to stay for the sunset but it was quickly getting soo busy with tourists and we could see coach after coach arriving so we decided to head off and watch the sunset from the road back to Perissa in some peace and quiet. Once back in Perissa we headed to a pub called Dorian’s where we got large cheap beers (Rich’s favourite thing) and some food delivered from a local takeaway (it was a strange relationship between the two businesses) and properly relaxed for the first time in a few days.

The following morning we headed back to Fira for the morning before heading to the port an catching a ferry to our next island – Naxos. We had arranged for a pick up when we arrived, although it turns out the Airbnb was within walking distance so we didn’t really need it. The main attraction in Naxos town is the temple of Apollo which we walked to see and watched the sunset from there before heading to find somewhere to eat.The Temple is essentially just a door frame on a hill but it is pretty and the sunset from up there is nice. The following day we headed to our next accommodation in the beach side area called Agia Anna, only a few miles from Naxos town. We spent a little time on the beach and then Rich went for a dive with the local company but he didn’t really enjoy it as the company were not very good.

As we hadn’t booked much accommodation in Naxos before coming here we had to do some last minute booking for all accommodation for the next few nights. We had planned to go to some other islands but we decided we just wanted some rest so Rich had booked a room for tonight in town and we turned up only to find out he had booked it for August and not July. We managed to cancel the accommodation with no charge and then went to a café t try and figure out what to do next. I managed to find some accommodation back near Agia Anna (although it was a 30 minute walk there from the accommodation) for the next two nights. We booked it and headed over there to swim in the pool and relax, while still trying to sort out all of our stuff as it was still taking a while to resolve the many issues we have been left with.

We stayed here for two days and in this time we did a lot of swimming, took a windsurfing lesson (turns out Rich cant windsurf due to his balance). The final day here we stayed in the accommodation until 5pm when we got a lift back to town for dinner and then got on a late overnight ferry back to Athens.

There is still so much to sort out from the robbery including our motor home keys, which are turning out to be a bit of a nightmare as Fiat said they need the vehicle at the garage before they will order the keys, which will then take 5 days but we are still trying to sort this out.
